Who We Are
In September 2002 at the Congressional Black Caucus Weekend, a historic event took place. Women Building for the Future/The Future PAC announced its formation with a goal of electing more African American women to public office. This is the first such national PAC in the nation. From this initial luncheon, hosted by Susan Taylor of Essence Magazine and Dr. Dorothy Height of the National Council of Negro Women, more than 125 women from across the country joined as Charter Members. The Board of Directors held its organizing meeting on December 3, 2002 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Now officially organized as a Federal and as both a Federal and a State Political Action Committee, Future PAC has endorsed candidates on the federal and state levels throughout the country.
We continue to work together to elect progressive candidates, bring new life and energy to the political arena, and improve the quality of life in our communities.
